Before You Go Back to School

School starts in just over two weeks! Can you believe it? Neither can we! We wish summer could last just a little bit longer. That’s why we are giving you a list of things you can do before school is back in session. They’re all nearby, so you don’t have to worry about any extensive road tripping before the chaos sets in.

  1. Take a day trip to Washington D.C.

In Maryland, we aren’t a far drive to any historical location. What better way to start those thinking engines than by visiting the nation’s capital? Walk through any of the Smithsonian museums (they’re free!) and take in the monuments that recall important historical figures and moments. It’s never too soon to start learning.

  1. Take a cruise

Both Annapolis and Baltimore offer cruises with unique views of the cities and the Chesapeake. If your family can’t stand the thought of leaving Fido behind, Annapolis cruises are dog-friendly!

  1. Take a family hike

Chesapeake Family Life recommends Kilgore Falls. Rocks State Park offers plenty of beautiful scenery and hikes for any ability level. As with any hike, but especially around waterfalls, safety is priority.

  1. Take a trip to the National Aquarium

This provides another cool learning opportunity for kids and families. Check out the variety of marine life they have and take some cool photos to remember your favorite exhibit.

Any excursion needs the perfect bag to carry your (and your family’s) things. The Common Market has you covered! Perfect for everything from a family day trip to school needs, the SoYoung line of backpacks and lunchboxes are perfect to carry whatever you’ll need.

The lunchboxes and coolers have easy-clean removable inserts, insulated interiors, an exterior pocket, and a strap for easy carry. The backpacks have 2 exterior mesh pockets for water bottles, and inner zip mesh pocket, and a chest strap for weight distribution. The best part is they’re made from the flax plant, so they are naturally resilient, and they are machine washable, dishwasher safe, and quick drying. And right now, they’re all 10% off for our Back-to-School sale!

What will you be doing with the last few weeks of summer vacation?
