From Seed to Centerpiece: Foundations for Growing Cut Flowers [OFFSITE]

March 30, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Want to learn how to grow your own flower bed? Join us for a field trip to Hidden Ridge Farm! Local grower and supplier of bouquets sold at the Common Market, Melane Kinney Hoffmann will provide practical growing tips for what works in our region and how to succeed using organic practices.  You’ll also learn how to choose flowers you love for the growing season that works for you, including conditions for your soil, light, and water levels.  We’ll finish up with Melane sharing a few basic bouquet design principles. Participants will receive the opportunity to make an arrangement of fresh flowers to take home!  A simple vase will be provided.

Melane is a lifelong gardener and a Master Gardener (a University of Maryland/US Department of Agriculture certification).  Melane started Hidden Ridge Farm in 2013 as a second career to provide local, fresh, chemical-free flowers to our region.
