Help Frederick County reach this goal by donating your unwanted textiles\, including clothing\, shoes\, linens\, and more! Your contributions will be diverted from landfills and given a second life through recycling and reuse. \nOnce collected our contracted partner Helpsy will collect the items and sort them. Some items are then sold for resale or donation organizations. Other non usable items are sorted further\, non usable items can be remade into new clothes\, blown insulation and other similar products. Helpsy works to find buyers both domestic and international. DESCRIPTION:These classes will cover situational awareness\, verbal de-escalation and physical de-escalation. In the physical de-escalation portions\, the class will cover primarily “open hand” techniques\, not the use of weapons or other tools of self-defense. Each 45-minute lesson will include review of the previous week\, some core strengthening\, some aerobic conditioning\, proper use of hands\, and one-on-one practice of each technique with a partner\, with the goal of developing a “muscle memory” response to various aggressor holds such as front bear hug\, double wrist grasp\, lapel grab. Safety of all participants will be emphasized. \nClass is open to all women and teen girls\, including all identifying as women. Loose\, comfortable clothing for class time is recommended. This class will be a time of confidence boosting and the building of community solidarity. Best outcome if present at all classes\, but not required.
