Don will also guide us through what we may need to consider before getting started\, including the costs of growing in our space\, suggested tools\, and commitment required to maintaining your own garden. \nDon Ludke has been a certified Master Gardener for over 13 years\, a public-school teacher in Maryland for 40 years\, and a home gardener for 50 years. He has taught adult gardening classes on a variety of practical gardening and landscape topics throughout the state. His gardening areas of interest and knowledge include companion planting\, crop timing and garden design. He appreciates sharing his experience and knowledge with all who will listen and who are interested in learning about the benefits of gardening.

Please wear comfortable shoes for walking and bring your own water. Whether you have a little patch of backyard or a huge property to work with\, the principles you learn in this class will help make your land more diverse\, productive\, and ecologically friendly than ever before. \nMichael Judd has worked with agro-ecological and whole-system designs throughout the Americas for over two decades\, focusing on applying permaculture and ecological design. His projects increase local food security and community health in both tropical and temperate growing regions. He is the founder of Ecologia Edible & Ecological Landscape Design\, Project Bona Fide\, an international nonprofit supporting agro-ecology research\, and co-founder of SilvoCulture\, a Maryland based nonprofit which is helping plant 1 million nut trees in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is also the author of Edible Landscaping with a Permaculture Twist\, and For the Love of PawPaws. \nMichael lives with his family on a permaculture homestead nestled along the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Frederick\, Maryland. In 2020\, he helped co-found Sunrise Frederick\, a hub of the national Sunrise Movement. He has continued to organize extensively through Sunrise and other local groups\, fighting for political\, social\, and environmental progress.

DESCRIPTION:This 6 session course offers students the opportunity to begin to uncover the mystery of the art called “Tai-Chi.” Sessions will take place in the 7th Street Community Room on 6 consecutive Tuesdays (5/10- 6/14) from 6:30- 7:30pm. All sessions are paid for in the ticket price below.  Everyone is welcome! \nThrough learning the 4 basic movements that comprise “Grasp the Sparrow’s Tail”\, students will begin to explore the principles of this ancient art. Through practice of posture\, movement\, concentration and relaxation\, students will begin to learn how to harmonize the body into a unit to develop and unlock internal energy called “Jin”\, or intrinsic energy. students can expect high levels of detail\, correct guidance and answers to their questions. \nCain Yentzer is an expert in the science and practice of Tai-Chi. First educated as a teenager in Washington D.C. at the Great River Taoist\nCenter under Scott Rodell. He later moved to Taiwan where he studied under Master Wang Yan-Nian at the National Tai-Chi Ch’uan Association. He lived in Taiwan for 15 years where he established his school Inner Court Tai-Ji. He has since moved back to teach Tai-Chi to Americans.
