Founded in 1996\, Red Wiggler first dug into the soil on a 2.5-acre farm in Comus\, Maryland. The idea came to Woody after working in group homes in Arizona. Through this experience\, Woody saw the need for both healthier food and more meaningful jobs for adults with developmental disabilities. The idea evolved from gardens and composting services to a full-fledged organic vegetable farm employing adults with developmental disabilities (Growers) who grow food for the community. Through a partnership with the Arc Montgomery County\, Woody spent that first season working and learning how to farm alongside five Growers\, growing food for a 12-member Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and two farmer’s markets.

These 20-minute Ted Talk style speeches will take place at the beginning of each board meeting and highlight presenters from diverse and marginalized groups within the Frederick community.  Our hope is to center different voices in order to learn about the joys\, struggles\, and experiences within Frederick and emphasizes our co-op principles of education and concern for community.  Due to limited meeting time\, there will be no Q&A but contact information and resources will be shared for follow up conversations.

After almost a decade of practicing herbalism privately\, Amy has recently opened her practice to others as she widens her circle. She enjoys helping folks align their rhythms with those of the earth\, so that they can sleep better\, feel less anxious\, and choose the right foods for their bodies. Amy loves meeting new people and guiding them as they harmonize their bodies with the healing powers of nature. \n
