SUMMARY:Pinsa Love Pizza Tasting!
DESCRIPTION:Pinsa\n\n\n\nPinsa. [Pin-zuh] Noun. 1. Pizza reinvented. 2. Known for it’s fluffy\, cloud-like texture. “The Pinsa from Pinsa Love is the best frozen pizza I’ve ever eaten.”  \n\nIt’s the crust…\n\nCrispy- Light- Fluffy- “Cloud-like” \nIt takes three days for our dough to become a Pinsa. Our custom blend of non-GMO flavors are the base\, but it’s our love in making the dough that really makes these Pinsas special! \nPizzeria quality\, baked right at home\n\nWhat’s the secret to making great Pinsa at home? \nIt’s simple. Bake it right in your oven. (oops! we told you the secret.) \nYou can cook it straight from the freezer\, but for best results we\nrecommend letting it thaw first. Just a few hours in the refrigerator\nshould do the trick. \nHow big is a Pinsa?\n\nA Pinsa is approximately 8 x 11 inches. They are designed to serve 2 people…or 1 very hungry person. Or 1 person with leftovers (they reheat great!). \nEach Pinsa is hand made\, so the may look a bit different- but portion size is the same.

SUMMARY:Food for Thought and Board of Directors Meeting; Everyone Welcome! [Online; Free; RSVP]
DESCRIPTION:Your co-op’s Board of Directors will meet virtually on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.  Please RSVP here by noon on that Thursday to receive your Zoom link.  Your Zoom link will be emailed to you on the day of the meeting. \nEarly in the meeting agenda\, the board reserves space to hear from owners who wish to address the board.  Want to contribute to our next Board meeting?  Click here and in the subject line put “Owner Comment” and let your voice be heard! \nThis meeting will start with our “Food for Thought” speaker series presentation!   These 20-minute Ted Talk style speeches will take place at the beginning of each board meeting and highlight presenters from diverse and marginalized groups within the Frederick community.  Our hope is to center different voices in order to learn about the joys\, struggles\, and experiences within Frederick and emphasizes our co-op principles of education and concern for community.  Due to limited meeting time\, there will be no Q&A but contact information and resources will be shared for follow up conversations. \nThis month’s Food for Thought speaker is Patricia Coates\, President of the Umbrella Project! The seed for the Umbrella Project was planted when Patricia was unable to find any grief programs for young people about the ages of her two children\, then 17 and 22\, when her husband\, their dad\, passed away in 2015. She was inspired to found the Umbrella Project after seeing how much daughter Eliane’s Appalachian Trail thru-hike in 2016 helped in her grieving and healing process. \nPatricia is a long-time communications and meetings professional\, editor\, and journalist\, primarily in the aviation\, travel and environmental sectors. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post\, The New York Times\, Frederick Magazine and numerous other publications. A pilot\, she is a former executive at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association\, and currently contributes to publications of the National Business Aviation Association. She loves to swim\, cycle and hike\, and has hiked Scotland’s Rob Roy Way with Eliane.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Ayurvedic Medicine [Free; RSVP]
DESCRIPTION:We hope you can join us for this introduction to Ayurvedic Medicine with Dr. Beech!  In this class we will learn about the basics of ayurvedic nutrition (how to use food as medicine)\, general information about herbal remedies (when to use and when not to use)\, and useful tips to keep ourselves connected to Nature’s intelligence. \nDr. Beech first learned about Ayurveda when he was attending Palmer Chiropractic College.  At that time Ayurveda was not well known and rarely taught in the West.  After graduating\, a course was offered by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1986.  Dr. Beech attended that training course and began practicing Ayurveda with his patients. \nIn 2001 while working as an Ayurvedic physician at a clinic in Bethesda\, Dr. Beech was invited to accompany a world famous Ayurvedic doctor named Vaidya Mishra who was touring the area for patient consultations.  Upon meeting Vaidya Mishra and observing his incredible skills as a diagnostician and clinician\, Dr. Beech accepted Vaidya’s invitation to become his student and learn his 5000-year-old family lineage called Shaka Vansiya (SV) Ayurveda.  This was a very rare opportunity in the US to study one on one with an Ayurvedic doctor who not only attended Ayurvedic College in India but also embodied 5000 years of clinical knowledge handed down from Father to son. \nDr. Beech studied with Vaidya Mishra until he passed in 2017.  He continues to practice SV Ayurveda today at his practice in Frederick.  He and his wife Prabha also run an Ayurvedic herbal product company based on Vaidya Mishra’s formulas.  That company is called Prabhava Herbals.

\nThis month’s Food for Thought speaker is Emma Jagoz. Emma writes: \n“Hello! I’m Emma Jagoz and I’m a first generation farmer who founded Moon Valley Farm in 2012. I am passionate about taking action locally to tackle global social and environmental injustices. I see the broken food system with its abundance of unhealthy\, highly processed food as one of the most dire issues facing our society\, as it’s destroying the environment\, it’s reliant on appalling work conditions and it creates a myriad of health issues to those who consume its products. \nI believe that by stewarding land responsibly through regenerative agriculture\, we will LOCALIZE our food system and also improve our waterways\, the health of the Chesapeake Bay\, and decrease the need to rely on fossil fuels and shipping logistics to get food. I think that the community that forms around this new local food system will have the tools needed to strengthen the health of our families through food AND will be empowered to successfully navigate the increasingly uncertain world affected by climate change disasters. \nOn the farm\, our mission is to unite ALL people around our common denominator\, the need to eat—by providing access to reliable\, healthy\, responsibly-grown and fresh food that combats our pandemic of health issues\, reliance on pharmaceuticals\, and a food industry that is destroying our planet. We are also passionate about providing our community with meaningful employment and improving the soil surrounding our region’s most important resource\, the Chesapeake Bay. \nOutside of the farm\, I am a mother of two amazing kids ages 12 & 11\, have two dogs and two cats\, and I am constantly working to better my work-life balance to focus on more quality time with my incredible family.”
