SUMMARY:Green Burials with Michael Judd
DESCRIPTION:Are you curious about Home Funeral and Green Burial practices/options in Maryland?  Join Michael Judd as he invites you to consider choices for end-of-life care\, home funeral\, home burial\, and green burial practices.  Michael will share information\, resources\, and personal experiences as he honors the wise traditions of natural burial and the relevance of these choices for us today. Talk and tour at the Morris Orchard\, Frederick county’s first natural burial site which is centered in a chestnut orchard\, so there will be an open fire and roasted chestnuts! \nMichael Judd has worked with agro-ecological and whole-system designs throughout the Americas for over two decades\, focusing on applying permaculture and ecological design. His projects increase local food security and community health in both tropical and temperate growing regions. He is the founder of Ecologia Edible & Ecological Landscape Design\, Project Bona Fide\, an international nonprofit supporting agro-ecology research\, co-founder of SilvoCulture\, a Maryland based nonprofit which is helping plant 1 million nut trees in the Mid-Atlantic region\, and Morris Orchard Natural Burial. He is also the author of Edible Landscaping with a Permaculture Twist\, and For the Love of PawPaws. \nMichael lives with his family on a permaculture homestead nestled along the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Frederick\, Maryland. The Judds’ homestead consists of 25 acres of mixed woodlands\, food forests\, gardens\, and a nursery designed for experimentation and education.

SUMMARY:Tons Of Textiles Recycling Event [BOTH STORE LOCATIONS]
DESCRIPTION:Join us for another massive textiles collection event! We’re aiming to collect *ten tons* of textiles — that’s more than the weight of an elephant! Help Frederick County reach this goal by donating your unwanted textiles\, including clothing\, shoes\, linens\, and more! Your contributions will be diverted from landfills and given a second life through recycling and reuse. \nOnce collected our contracted partner Helpsy will collect the items and sort them. Some items are then sold for resale or donation organizations. Other non usable items are sorted further\, non usable items can be remade into new clothes\, blown insulation and other similar products. Helpsy works to find buyers both domestic and international. To find out more check out their website: https://www.helpsy.com/ \nThe goal of this event is to keep worn textiles out of the landfill and support more mindful reuse. If you have clothing in good\, wearable condition and would like it to go directly into the hands of someone in need\, please consider donating to the Frederick Rescue Mission. A convenient drop-off bin is located behind Starbucks in the 7th Street parking lot. \nDrop off your textiles at either Common Market Co-op location and help us make an impact in our community. \n**Click here to review items we accept**
