DESCRIPTION:This 3 session course offers students the opportunity to learn the art of natural beekeeping! Sessions will take place on 3 consecutive Sundays (7/10-7/24) from 1-3pm. The first 2 sessions will take place in the 7th Street Community Room and the 3rd session will be held at a local Frederick Apiary. All sessions are paid for in the ticket price below.  Everyone is welcome! \nAfter this first class students will: \n\nUnderstand what your own motivations are for keeping bees \nUnderstand the basic necessities of what goes into the first year of beekeeping\nBe able to list the different components of the hive/ hive tools\nBe able to recognize the different castes of bees\nUnderstand the basic structure and life cycle of apis mellifera\nExplain why beekeeping is an important contribution to a sustainable future\n\nThis class will be lead by Sol Nectar. Through her classes and garden tours\, she hopes to inspire students and visitors of Fox Haven to create positive relationships with their own health\, the earth and one another. Ashley is also an artist focused in photography and mixed media. Within her personal work\, she creates a dialogue for important social and environmental issues. At Fox Haven\, you’ll see her creativity in the posters and promotional materials for classes and events.
