Saving Money at Your Local Co-Op

As a co-op, the Common Market strives to make good food accessible to everyone in the community. One way of doing this is through special savings on certain products. If you’re on a tight budget and looking for some more ways to save, here are a few tricks.

  1. Make a list.

This sounds like an obvious statement, but making a list can help you remember what you need and keep you from buying things you don’t.

  1. Know when the sales days are.

The time period for sales is typically Wednesday through Tuesday, so be on the lookout then.

  1. Buy only what you will need or what you know you will use.

The bulk area is great for this. You can take as much or as little as you will need for your meal prepping endeavors.

  1. Don’t buy name brand.

Just like at any store, the “name brands” tend to be more expensive. And most of the time, the store brands will satisfy your meals just as well. Field Day has some great pasta and sauces, they have a line of sparkling water, and they have some non-food products as well. Plus, you can usually find pretty good deals on their products.
